“On this day”: memories of your own posts

What did you post a year ago? The “On this day” feature brings your own earlier posts back to your screen. It picks them by date alone and never shows other people’s posts. Here is how to use it in the browser and in the app.

Where to find your memories

In the browser menu the feature is called “Memories”. In the Android app it appears as a card above the feed and as a screen of its own, “On this day”. Only your own posts are shown.

How posts are picked

Friendstime picks by date alone, not by reactions or comments. In the app you see posts from today’s date in earlier years, oldest first. In the browser you see posts from the same day of the month in earlier months or years that are more than 25 days old.

When there is nothing old yet

If you have not been around for long, the browser shows your very first post instead. In the app no card appears at all. Once you have been sharing posts for a while, your moments from the past show up by themselves.

View, share, hide

In the app you can view, share or hide a memory; Friendstime remembers what you have hidden. On the page in the browser you can view memories, but there is no hide button. When you share a memory, you choose who may see it, as with any post.

Using memories mindfully

Not every memory is a happy one. If a date is hard, hide the card in the app. For things you want to keep for later yourself, there is also the time capsule, which only opens on a date you choose, and life events on your profile.
