Moments: little games right in the chat
Sometimes a chat needs more than text. On Friendstime chat games are called Moments: hidden questions, votes, small games and countdowns to look forward to. You start them with friends or in a group, in the browser and in the Android app.
How to start a Moment
In the web messenger you open Moments with the ✨ icon, in the Android app with the paper clip in the chat. This works with friends and in groups you belong to. It is not possible with people you have blocked or who have blocked you.
Answer hidden, reveal together
In “You first, then me”, everyone answers a question in secret. In “Match”, each person says yes or no to 2 to 12 suggestions; the result shows what everyone likes, but not who voted for what. In “You or me?” and “Who is most likely to …?”, everyone secretly picks a person. The reveal happens once everyone has taken part, or earlier by the person who started the Moment once there are enough answers. Only people who took part see the results.
Guess and play
In rock paper scissors, everyone picks in secret. In “Two truths, one lie”, the others guess which of three statements is false, and in “How well do you know me?” they answer up to five questions about you. Tic-tac-toe is played by two people taking turns, and in the emoji riddle you have five tries to guess a word from emojis. There are ten kinds in total.
Happiness jar and countdown
In the happiness jar, everyone drops notes of up to 500 characters that only their author can see until the chosen day. The countdown counts down to an event, such as a holiday or a concert, and is pinned at the top of the chat.
Encryption and what the server sees
New Moments are end-to-end encrypted (ML-KEM-768 with AES-256-GCM) when everyone in the chat has set up encryption; otherwise Friendstime asks first whether to send the Moment without it. The server holds back the encrypted answers until the reveal and can see who takes part and when.
