Getting around faster: navigation and search in Friendstime
The Friendstime Android app has a fixed bar with five areas, a menu with its own search and several ways to search in a chat. This topic shows the paths that save you taps and says what works only in the app and what works in the browser too.
The bottom bar
At the bottom you find Start, VideoTime, ＋, Chats and Menu. The plus is not an area of its own: it opens a sheet for creating, for example a post, photo, video, story, reel, live, poll, event, group, page, group chat, room or listing. If you tap the active area again, you return to its start and to the top.
Choosing the start area
Under Settings → “Start & Navigation” you choose what the app starts with: Start, VideoTime, Chats or Menu. The choice applies the next time you open the app. You hide the bottom bar only under Settings → “Experts”.
Search
The magnifying glass at the top opens the search. It works from two characters with tabs such as “All”, “Users”, “Posts”, “Hashtags”, “Groups” and “Pages”; in the “All” tab up to four matching app functions also appear under “In the app”. Without a search term it shows suggestions such as “Pages for you”, “Discover groups” and “Popular posts” as well as your hashtags with “Manage”. The microphone starts voice search, provided your device offers speech recognition.
The menu
The search field “Search for a function or setting …” in the menu opens the function overview with the keyboard. Below it is “Recently used” with up to four functions, followed by 12 tiles such as Events, Marketplace, Pages, Rooms, Saved, Wallet, Wellbeing and “All functions”. You organise saved posts in collections, and the settings have a search field of their own.
Search, jump and pin in a chat
The ⋮ menu of a chat contains Mute, Customize, “Jump to date” and “Search in chat”. Chat search finds matches in the loaded messages from two characters, counts them (“2 of 7”) and jumps with arrows from the newest to the oldest match; it runs on your device, including in texts that are already decrypted. In one-to-one chats you can pin up to three messages, in the app as well as on the web.
Tour and chat list
A short tour explains search, notifications, create, chats and menu in five steps. In the chat list you start a conversation with a friend via “New message” or a group chat via “New group”. The “Calls” button opens the call list.

Frequently asked questions
Can I change what the app starts with?
Yes. Under Settings → “Start & Navigation” you choose Start, VideoTime, Chats or Menu. The change applies the next time you open the app.
How do I search in a chat?
Open the ⋮ menu of the chat and choose “Search in chat”. The search covers the loaded messages on your device; on the web it exists in one-to-one chats too and covers the latest 100 messages there.
How many messages can I pin?
At most three in a one-to-one chat. Both sides may pin and unpin; a fourth pin replaces the oldest. Only the message number is stored, not the content.
Does this apply in the browser too?
Partly. Chat search and pinning exist in the web messenger too. The bottom bar, start area, menu search and voice search are functions of the Android app.
Where do I find my saved posts?
In the Android app in the menu under “Saved”. They are listed as “My bookmarks” and can be organised in collections.
How do I hide the bottom bar?
Only under Settings → “Experts”, with the switch “Hide bottom bar”.
