Parent area: parental controls the child confirms too
In the Friendstime parent area, up to two parents link to a child's account. The link only comes into being when both sides agree. After that, settings such as quiet hours, daily limit and approval of friendships apply; they are enforced on the server, not just in the display.
Linking with consent
A parent creates an invitation code that is valid for 48 hours and can be used once. The child confirms the code in their own account. Up to two parents are possible per child, up to ten children per parent. If the child wants to remove the link, this is recorded as a request to the parents; every step is in the log.
What parents can set
Quiet hours during which push notifications are muted, optionally with a lock; a daily limit for usage time; contact rules for direct messages, calls and group invitations; friendships that only apply after approval by the parents; profile private and not in search; a strict content filter for the feed.
Enforcement on the server
If quiet hours with lock are active or the daily limit is reached, the writing interfaces of website and app refuse, and web pages redirect to a pause page. Usage time is counted per day through a regular heartbeat from the app and the website.
What parents do not see
Parents see summaries such as usage time and counts. They see no message contents and no chat partners; end-to-end encryption is not bypassed.

Frequently asked questions
Can a parent link a child without the child knowing?
No. The child has to confirm the invitation code in their own account.
Do parents read along in the chats?
No. The parent area shows times and counts, not contents.
Does this apply in the Android app too?
Yes. The rules are checked on the server and therefore apply equally to website and app.
