Screenshot blocking
Screenshot blocking stops an app from being captured in screenshots and screen recordings, usually on especially sensitive screens such as login or payments.
What is screenshot blocking?
Screenshot blocking is a feature with which an app marks its window as protected. On Android, the operating system then makes sure that screenshots and screen recordings are prevented or show only a black image; the preview in the app switcher stays hidden too. The block is used mainly on screens where sensitive details appear, such as sign-in, confirmation codes or payments.
How it works and what it is for
The app tells the operating system that a particular screen must not be captured, and the system enforces it. The point is to keep out of recordings what nobody should capture by accident, such as sign-in details, codes or account balances. It also keeps such content from turning up unnoticed in a screen recording or in the preview when you flip through your open apps. The block applies per screen; the app decides where it is switched on.
Limits and tips
Screenshot blocking is a hurdle, not a wall. Nobody can prevent someone from photographing the screen with another device. In a browser, a website cannot technically stop screenshots at all; only apps on the device can do that. The block also does not protect you from handing over sign-in details or codes yourself. Never share confirmation codes with others, and keep an eye on your screen in public.
On Friendstime
The Friendstime Android app blocks screenshots and screen recordings on sensitive screens; the preview in the app switcher is hidden there too. These include sign-in and registration, password reset, two-factor confirmation, passkeys, the wallet with coins, payouts and sending money, and viewing View once photos. In normal chats the block is deliberately not active: screenshots of conversations remain possible.
Frequently asked questions
Why can I sometimes not take a screenshot in the Friendstime app?
You are probably on a sensitive screen. The Android app blocks screenshots and screen recordings on sign-in and registration, password reset, two-factor confirmation, passkeys, the wallet with coins, payouts, sending money, and while a View once photo is shown.
Can I take screenshots in chats?
Yes. In normal chats the block is deliberately not active, so screenshots of conversations remain possible. That applies to everyone taking part: the other person can capture a conversation too.
Does screenshot blocking work in the browser?
No. In a browser, a website cannot technically prevent screenshots. And nobody can prevent someone from photographing the screen with another device.
